Lauren Edwards for Rochester and Strood
About Lauren
Rochester and Strood is my home. It has so much potential but it needs someone to fight for it - I promise to do that every day as your Labour MP. Lauren Edwards
I have lived in Rochester with my family for years and am proud to be a local councillor and the Cabinet Member for Economic and Social Regeneration and Inward Investment on Medway Council. In my cabinet role, I lead work to support local businesses, regenerate our towns, bring in more investment, and create jobs for local people.
Prior to this I worked at the Bank of England as a regulator, making sure that financial companies followed the rules put in place after the last financial crisis. I have also worked at HM Treasury, dealing mainly with the impact of Brexit on our laws.
I campaigned against the privatisation of Royal Mail and supported postal workers while working at the Communication Workers Union. I have over a decade’s experience standing up for others as an elected trade union representative in my workplace and now want to stand up for the people of Rochester and Strood.
I believe we deserve better after 14 years of Conservative decline and mismanagement and am committed to getting our country back on its feet again.
